What is a Zero Waste Audit?

Zero Waste Audits is a new service offering by Valpak Consulting which involves working with clients to identify their current waste arisings / composition, recycling levels and costings. By applying the waste hierarchy approach of Reduce Reuse and Recycle to an organisation's waste arisings, advice is given on how to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill whilst optimising any potential revenue from recyclate.

The amount of waste generated by an organisation is generally related to the type of sector and number of full time employees (FTE). Below is a guide to the minimum size of organisation that would benefit from a Zero Waste Audit. It is based on the amount of waste organisations may produce, and the potential savings they could make if recycling is optimised. Type of organisations include:

  • retailers (15 FTE)
  • manufacturing (10 FTE)
  • hospitality sector (15 FTE)
  • large public organisations (40 FTE)
