Returnable
Packaging Services Ltd (RPS) provides a full management system for the collection
of customer's empty reusable transport packaging and associated equipment. This
currently includes wooden / plastic pallets, top boards, metal racks, stillages,
timber boxes, re-usable Octoboxes, big bags, packaging associated with the films
industry such as plastic and chipboard, end plates, tops and frames.
Returnable packaging is sent to an RPS depot in the
UK, or partner company depots on the continent. It is sorted (good from damaged),
identified per supplier / manufacturer, cleaned, repaired and sent back to RPS clients
in full loads.
All packaging returns are entered onto the RPS database.
This enables RPS to raise regular reports for their customers, which then highlights
collection performance at customer collection points.
RPS can help to minimise the impact of packaging
through proactive collection and reuse of what in effect is a company asset. RPS
can advise clients on packaging minimisation where reuse is not practical, and can
specify recycled content where practicable. Any packaging collected by RPS on your
behalf, that cannot be used by your company, will either be reused by a third party
or offered for energy recovery (calorific gain).
RPS can provide evidence of the number of packages
collected and reused. This evidence will help to reduce your annual packaging waste
submission to Valpak.
