The Valpak Awards 2008 have been designed to recognise excellence in all
areas of waste management. Once again, they will celebrate the organisations
which have implemented the best or most innovative packaging recycling and
waste minimisation programme. In recognition of the fact that the WEEE Regulations
have now been in place for a year, we have added awards to reward achievements
in this area.
The awards will also acknowledge those organisations
that have pushed the education and awareness of recycling. In recognition
of the need to encourage innovation and passion for waste management in
the next generation, we have also introduced an award for Environmental
Innovation in Under 21s. Continuing this theme, Valpak are sponsoring two
awards through the Royal
College of Art; "Spread the word" changing consumer behaviour in the
field of sustainability and "Shrinking footprints" addressing the impact
of insatiable demand through eco-design. These will be presented alongside
our industry awards.
The black tie event, hosted on 11 September at
the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London, presents an ideal
opportunity to network with key Valpak staff, fellow members and representatives
of other influential organisations within the industry.
A champagne reception and three course dinner will be
followed by our guest speaker, Dermot Murnaghan, and the presentation
of the awards. In addition to the prestige and publicity that accompanies
a Valpak award; the winners will be presented with a recycled glass trophy,
continuing our Awards theme of sustainability.
