Step One

Valpak will send producers a 'Non Private Household Compliance Pack' containing:

• information on how the WEEE Regulations affect producers

• application forms to join Valpak's WEEE producer compliance scheme

• data submission form

• template for declaring producers method of compliance

Following completion of application forms and acceptance into the WEEE scheme, Valpak will conduct a review of producers data submission and methodology of compliance to ensure it meets the requirements of the UK WEEE regulations.

Step Three

Valpak will advise producers of any recommendations to improve the data submission and methodology of compliance. Producers will be sent a verification of the submission. Upon receipt of this Valpak will register producers with the appropriate agency.

Valpak will run seminars between May and July 2007 to provide additional advice on compliance for producers, with practical solutions enabling the producer to ensure compliance.

Step Four

The following options for compliance are available for producers:

• 'passing on' of WEEE obligations through commercial contracts

• arrangement of a take-back system for New EEE once it reaches its end of life or for Historic WEEE which is required to be taken back. (Valpak will provide a list of potential service suppliers to aid these arrangements)

• additional support required to develop a solution to comply with WEEE obligations. (Valpak will provide WEEE consultancy services)

A final declaration of compliance will have to be completed by producers and submitted to Valpak by the 1 May 2008, containing treatment evidence and details of compliance methods used during the period July to December 2007. Valpak will then submit this to the appropriate agency.
